The Special Needs Unit -The Heart-Beat of Bertram.

The CEO , Bertram American International School Umuahia, Chief Dr Mrs Ijeoma Nduka-Nwosu has a heart full of love and compassion for children and especially for children with special needs. It is for this reason that in establishing this great institution, that strong desire to love, care and educate special needs children was uppermost in her mind. This is why the Special Needs Unit of the school is at the center of her heart.

We run an all-inclusive curriculum, this means that the children with special needs are not excluded from other children. They learn and play together which helps to improve their social -emotional well being and growth. At designated times, they also receive attention in any specific area of need.
We also have sensory rooms equipped with sensory toys and other equipment which provide soft texture, light and sound and general safety and a place to relax and unwind for the children.

We have consultants, therapists, teachers and caregivers who work tirelessly to ensure the set goals are met for each child. In Bertram American International School Umuahia, no child is left behind. We believe that every child has the potential to achieve significantly if provided the necessary opportunities, and that is what we do.
